Short answer
How high is the PV incentive in Geneva in 2026?
In Geneva, SIG supplements the 2026 Pronovo PRU with the Prime solaire: 25% of the federal incentive for new self-consumption systems from 2 to under 30 kWc and 15% for 30 to 100 kWc. The system must be commissioned and certified by Pronovo after 1 January 2026; SIG then contacts eligible owners.
Important
As of 2026, the SIG Prime solaire is not a flat Geneva grant and does not replace the Pronovo PRU. It applies only to the new self-consumption systems described by SIG, requires commissioning and Pronovo certification after 1 January 2026, and remains subject to budget and allocation. Check the current SIG page and the specific system before finalising an economic calculation.

Decision points
What determines the right path.
Certified capacity determines the percentage. SIG specifies a Prime solaire of 25% of the Pronovo PRU for new self-consumption systems from 2 to under 30 kWc and 15% for 30 to 100 kWc. The funding calculation must therefore match the capacity certified later.
Self-consumption is an explicit requirement for the SIG Prime solaire. A system planned exclusively for feed-in must not automatically be budgeted with the SIG top-up; the self-consumption and metering concept must be defined before ordering.
The cut-off date is 1 January 2026. For the 2026 Prime solaire, SIG requires a new system commissioned and certified by Pronovo after that date. An older system cannot enter this incentive route merely through a later registration.
Pronovo and SIG have separate roles. Pronovo assesses the federal incentive and certifies the system; SIG provides the additional utility incentive as a percentage of the PRU. Both steps must remain separately traceable in the quote and document plan.
Payment does not happen with the first quote. After installation, meter adjustment, conformity inspection and Pronovo validation, SIG contacts eligible owners by email and finalises the payment. Missing contact details or incomplete certification can delay the process.
The Prime solaire is subject to budget and allocation limits. SIG states that premiums are awarded within the available budget and that SIG retains discretion in awarding them. The Prime solaire must therefore not be entered into an economic calculation as an unconditional guaranteed amount.
Sequence
How the project stays cleanly managed.
- 1
Define capacity band and usebefore quoting, document the planned certified capacity, self-consumption, any battery and intended feed-in. This allows planning for the 25% band below 30 kWc or the 15% band from 30 to 100 kWc.
- 2
Calculate the Pronovo PRU separatelythe federal incentive is handled through Pronovo. Check the PRU programme, system type and capacity data in the Pronovo calculator or customer portal, and show the federal amount separately from the SIG Prime solaire.
- 3
Align the project and metering concept with the SIG caseself-consumption, meter location, inverter, grid connection and contact address must describe the same project version. SIG notes that the installer usually coordinates the next administrative steps.
- 4
Install the system and have the meter adjustedafter installation, the installer notifies SIG; SIG configures or replaces the electricity meter. Only from this metering stage is exported energy recorded for feed-in remuneration.
- 5
Complete the conformity check and Pronovo certificationthe installer arranges the acceptance inspection and certification through an authorised body. After validation, Pronovo informs the owner and SIG.
- 6
Complete the SIG form and await paymentafter certification, SIG emails eligible owners the form for the Prime solaire. Check contact details, bank information and certification status; payment depends on the SIG criteria and available budget.
Checklist
Questions to settle before the quote.
- Classify 25% or 15% of the Pronovo PRU by certified capacity band
- Document self-consumption, commissioning after 1 January 2026 and a new system
- Reserve the meter adjustment, conformity inspection and Pronovo certification in the workflow
- Calculate the SIG Prime solaire, Pronovo PRU and feed-in remuneration separately
