In the TBGN service area, PV feed-in payment in Glarus follows the quarterly average market price at the time of feed-in in 2026; for systems up to 30 kW, TBGN guarantees at least 6.00 Rp./kWh excluding VAT. In the standard case, this concerns solar electricity that a system exports to the TBGN distribution grid after self-consumption. For 30 to 150 kW, TBGN also distinguishes between systems with and without self-consumption; with self-consumption, the share above 30 kW is valued proportionally differently. Guarantees of origin are a voluntary add-on payment separate from the physical electricity flow and require, among other things, registration in Pronovo's HKN system. From 2026, storage systems with end consumption can receive a separate network-use refund, which must be requested from TBGN.

How high is PV feed-in payment in Glarus in 2026?

In the TBGN service area, PV feed-in payment in 2026 follows the quarterly average market price. TBGN guarantees at least 6.00 Rp./kWh excluding VAT up to 30 kW; larger systems, self-consumption, HKNs and storage follow separate rules. Feed-in settlement must be kept separate from the remaining electricity purchase.

Important

As of 2026, the tariff sheet applies only in the TBGN service area and for the period from 1 January to 31 December 2026. The energy price is set retrospectively each quarter, so the stated minimum and HKN rates are not fixed prices applying across the canton. For a property outside the TBGN grid, the responsible distribution system operator must be checked separately.

What determines the right path.

The grid operator is the first checkpoint: the TBGN tariff sheet applies to the TBGN service area, not automatically to every property in Canton Glarus. Under Art. 15 EnG, TBGN's statutory duty to accept and remunerate electricity extends to systems of no more than 3,000 kW.

The market price is not a fixed annual tariff. Since 1 January 2026, the energy component has been paid according to the quarterly average market price at the time of feed-in; the BFE publishes the reference market prices and sets the amount retrospectively for each quarter.

Up to 30 kW, the minimum applies regardless of self-consumption: TBGN states 6.00 Rp./kWh excluding VAT or 6.49 Rp./kWh including 8.1% VAT. The financial model must nevertheless use the amount of electricity actually exported.

For 30 to 150 kW, self-consumption determines the minimum-payment logic. Without self-consumption, TBGN states 6.20 Rp./kWh excluding VAT for the full output; with self-consumption, 6.00 Rp./kWh applies to the first 30 kW and 0.00 Rp./kWh to the remaining output, proportionally to system capacity.

HKNs are not part of the physical energy price. TBGN pays them voluntarily at 1.50 Rp./kWh up to and including 30 kW and 1.25 Rp./kWh from 30 kW if the system is in the TBGN service area, is not in the KEV programme, is certified and recorded by Pronovo, and the customer buys at least the standard electricity product.

A storage system changes the settlement route: for storage with end consumption, TBGN cites StromVG Art. 14a and StromVV Art. 18d ff. for a refund of network use on electricity returned to the grid after a time shift. The refund is not paid automatically; it must be requested from TBGN, and the network level and tariff model determine the amount.

How the project stays cleanly managed.

    Confirm the TBGN service areabefore preparing a quote, establish whether the property is actually supplied by Technische Betriebe Glarus Nord. The 3,000 kW limit under Art. 15 EnG and any KEV status determine whether the TBGN rules fit the system.

    Define system output and the self-consumption modelthe design must at least distinguish up to 30 kW from 30 to 150 kW. The yield model must show self-consumption, surplus and the electricity actually delivered to the grid separately.

    Model the energy componentfor 2026, treat the BFE quarterly reference market price as a variable and use the TBGN minimum values as the floor. The market price is set retrospectively for the relevant quarter, so an annual model must not assume a fixed tariff.

    Plan HKNs only once the conditions are metthe system must be certified by Pronovo and recorded in the HKN tracking system; TBGN also requires, among other things, the standard electricity product and a standing order for HKN transfer. The contract runs for at least one year and renews for another year unless terminated; the notice period is six months.

    Prepare the storage refund separatelyfor storage with end consumption, document the electricity drawn and returned after a time shift, as well as the network level and tariff model. Submit the application under StromVG Art. 14a and StromVV Art. 18d ff. directly to TBGN because the refund is only available on application.

    Check settlement after commissioningsince July 2025, feed-in remuneration has been paid separately from the previous electricity bill. Check that energy, HKNs and any requested storage refund are shown separately; TBGN pays HKNs no later than the first quarter of the following production year.

  • Calculate the 30 kW threshold, self-consumption and proportional remuneration for larger systems
