Solar in Regensdorf: installed base, potential and electricity price 2027

All figures apply to the municipality of Regensdorf and come from federal datasets — with source and date below.

Electricity price 2027 per kWh

  1. Self-consumption

What a self-consumed kWh is worth in Regensdorf

On the standard tariff of Elektrizitätswerke des Kantons Zürich (EKZ), a purchased kWh costs 20.87 ct in 2027 excluding fixed and metering fees. That is roughly what every kWh of solar power saves when it is used in the house instead of being exported. The total price is 0.27 ct below last year (24.14 ct).

Exported power is paid at the quarterly reference market price; since 2026, systems below 30 kW are guaranteed a minimum of 6 ct/kWh. In Regensdorf, self-consumed power is therefore worth up to 3.5 times as much as exported power — which is why the share of solar power used in the house matters most.

  2. Winter power

How much solar power Regensdorf delivers in winter

Suitable roofs in Regensdorf could produce 116.3 GWh of solar power per year, 27% of it between October and March. Adding façades raises the potential to 148.8 GWh and the winter share to 28%: vertical surfaces make better use of the low winter sun.

For a house with a heat pump, this winter share is what matters: demand is highest in winter and self-consumption is most valuable. Whether a flatter or steeper layout pays off on your roof only becomes clear in the site assessment.

  3. Uptake

How far Regensdorf has come with solar

The federal plant register lists 321 photovoltaic systems in Regensdorf with a combined 18.7 MW. Since January 2025, 67 systems with 5.5 MW have been added. The register covers all systems above 30 kVA, subsidised systems and voluntarily registered small systems; new systems often appear with a delay. Per resident that is 922 watts — rank 66 of 160 municipalities in the Canton of Zürich.

Figures with sources

Solar in Regensdorf: cost, size, storage.

Three questions decide almost every project before a roof is ever measured. Here they are with source and date, so it stays clear what each figure rests on.

  1. Costs

    What a system costs

Example: 5–10 kWp rooftop PV: CHF 13,500–27,000. Incl. 8.1% VAT, before incentives and tax deductions, without a battery. Calculated from the SFOE median of CHF 2,497/kWp: the range reflects different system sizes. A market comparison, not a quote.

Roof renovation, structural reinforcement and replacement of the meter cabinet are not included. Roof access, electrical work and planning can change the price. Your specific quote follows the property assessment.

    Costs with calculation and sources
  2. Sizing

    Single-family home: the realistic size

A typical household using around 4,000 kWh per year needs roughly 25 m² of module area (Swissolar, February 2024). As a starting figure, global irradiation in Canton Zürich is around 1150 kWh/m² per year. Whether that works on your roof in Regensdorf depends on orientation, pitch and shading — not on the floor plan.

Two federal bonuses explicitly do not apply to a single-family home: the winter electricity bonus requires at least 100 kW, and the tilt bonus at least 75 degrees of pitch. Neither applies to an ordinary pitched roof. Counting on them makes the business case look better than it is.

Clarify notification and permission before installation
  3. Storage

    Battery storage and self-consumption

Battery storage earns its money through self-consumption: it shifts solar power from midday into the evening. With Elektrizitätswerke des Kantons Zürich (EKZ), every kWh shifted this way is worth 20.87 ct instead of a feed-in payment of at least 6 ct — up to CHF 149 per 1,000 kWh a year. Whether that covers the battery over its lifetime depends on your evening consumption.

Since 1 January 2025, an association for self-consumption (ZEV) may also use the existing connection lines. This makes apartment buildings and neighbourhood setups considerably cheaper, as no dedicated line is required. In Regensdorf, the connection conditions are set by Elektrizitätswerke des Kantons Zürich (EKZ).

Swiss facts

Applies to residential and commercial properties.

One-time remuneration
Federal support depends on system type and size band. Vigorek clarifies which remuneration rate applies to your property and how it interacts with canton and grid operator.
Storage as a system decision
A battery only pays off when it fits your consumption and home technology. We assess it as part of the overall plan — not as a late upsell.
Realistic payback
We calculate with ranges instead of wishful numbers: self-consumption, remuneration and tariff logic together give a realistic picture of your economic return.

Proof

How sound planning becomes visible.

Our quotes are not built from flat packages, but from checked data, technical pre-assessment and clearly itemized positions.

  1. Planning basis

Official data as the first cross-check

Roof potential, irradiation and addresses are checked against GeoAdmin and BFE Sonnendach: the same datasets used by federal and cantonal bodies.

  2. Property review

Final quote based on verified data

The initial estimate gives realistic orientation. For the final quote, we capture roof areas, access and technical conditions through a 3D survey (drone) and on-site review — precise, not based on satellite assumptions.

  3. Electrical

    Coordination by licensed professionals

From electrical planning through protection equipment to grid registration: all safety-critical steps are carried out by licensed electrical professionals, in-house or through vetted partners.

  4. Quote

Itemized instead of a flat package

Every line item is shown individually instead of hidden in a flat package — so variants and ranges stay traceable from the start.

Regional clarification

Not every system follows the same logic in Regensdorf.

In Switzerland, permits, grid operator, metering concept and incentive path always depend on the property, municipality and canton. These are exactly the points clarified early before a quote becomes binding.

That avoids a generic promise and creates a well-founded assessment that fits the region and the building.

Engineering depth. Financial structure.

You know before signing who calculates your project and who builds it. Behind that are two founders with two areas of expertise — engineering and finance — and the conviction that a solar system only works long-term when both fit together from the start.

Municipality check

Solar system in Regensdorf: what matters locally

Many projects start with a rough roof idea. We translate it into a verifiable concept with layout plan, cable routes, safety logic and documented handover.

Regensdorf belongs to Canton Zürich. We therefore combine the local roof assessment with cantonal requirements for subsidies, permits, grid connection and documentation.

Roof potential

Canton Zürich guideline: approx. 1150 kWh/m² global irradiation per year.

Grid & utility

Permit

Since January 1, 2023, most solar systems in Canton Zurich only require notification (30 days before construction) — no building permit. Exceptions: listed buildings, protected zones, facade systems on protected objects.

Subsidies & taxes

Zurich has no general cantonal PV top-up – investment support runs Switzerland-wide via the Pronovo one-time payment. There is no cantonal subsidy for PV battery storage (the canton excludes household batteries from its energy funding). Municipal programmes are relevant instead: in the City of Zurich, ewz has funded battery storage since 1 Aug 2026 (CHF 1,000 flat from 3 kWh plus CHF 100/kWh up to 100 kWh, only combined with PV and energy management) and PV systems with increased contributions. For feed-in, the City of Zurich uses ewz at an average of 12.91 Rp./kWh, or 14 Rp./kWh in the ewz.solarquartier LEG model.
